eDPI Explained: Finding Your Perfect Sensitivity

📅 2025-01-025 min read🏷 Sensitivity

eDPI (effective DPI) is the single most useful number for comparing sensitivity across players and games. Here's everything you need to know.

eDPI, or effective DPI, is simply your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It creates a single comparable number that removes the confusion of different DPI settings between players.

**Formula**: eDPI = Mouse DPI × In-Game Sensitivity

Why eDPI Matters

Two players can have very different-looking settings but identical eDPI: Player A at 800 DPI × 0.5 sens = 400 eDPI. Player B at 400 DPI × 1.0 sens = 400 eDPI. They experience identical mouse movement.

Pro eDPI Distribution

Among the top 50 Valorant pros: - Under 300 eDPI: 25% of pros (ultra-low, precision focused) - 300–500 eDPI: 45% of pros (low-medium, most common) - 500–800 eDPI: 25% of pros (medium) - Over 800 eDPI: 5% of pros (high, aggressive play style)

Finding Your eDPI

Start at 400 eDPI if you prefer precise, methodical play. Start at 600–800 eDPI if you prefer fast-paced, aggressive play. Adjust by no more than 50 eDPI at a time, and allow 2 weeks to adapt before making further changes.
